You can ask us to delete your Aakalan account and the data attached to it at any time, for any reason, without giving one.
Deletion happens immediately. We do not ask you why, and there is no cooling-off period during which we try to talk you out of it.
Email firodiya.ritesh@gmail.com with “Delete my Aakalan account” in the subject and the mobile number you signed in with — that number is the only identifier we have for you. We will reply to confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days.
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your profile — name, mobile number, UPI ID | Deleted. |
| Your personal (“just me”) expenses | Deleted. Nobody else could see them, so nothing else depends on them. |
| Your sign-in credentials | Deleted. The account can no longer be signed into. |
Expenses in shared groups stay. They are part of other people's ledgers too. Removing them would silently change what your friends are owed, and they never agreed to that — someone could settle a debt and then delete their account to make the record of it disappear.
Your name is replaced with “Removed user” on those entries, so the amounts still add up but you are no longer identified.
Group activity history — who added, edited or deleted an expense — is kept for the same reason. A shared ledger is only trustworthy if it cannot be quietly rewritten after the fact.
If you want a copy of your data before it goes, ask in the same email and we will send it.
Deleted data is removed from our live systems within 30 days of your request, and from encrypted backups within a further 90 days. After that it is gone and cannot be recovered — including by us.
