Delete your Chitragupt account

You can delete your Chitragupt account and everything in it yourself, at any time, without asking us and without giving a reason. The Android app and chitragupt.ai are the same account — deleting it in one place deletes it in both.

In the app

Open Chitragupt and sign in.
Go to Settings → Privacy & data.
Tap Delete account, then Continue to deletion.
Tap Schedule deletion to confirm.

On the website the same thing lives at Settings → Privacy + Data → Delete account, where you type DELETE to confirm.

You get 7 days to change your mind

After you confirm, a 7-day countdown starts. Sign in during those 7 days and tap Cancel deletion to stop it.

Once the 7 days are up, the wipe runs and nothing can be recovered — including by us.

What is deleted

Data	What happens
Your profile — name, email, PAN, date of birth	Deleted.
Every document you uploaded, and every file we made from them	Deleted.
Your ledger, expenses and portfolio entries	Deleted.
Every tax review, for every year	Deleted.
Family memberships	Deleted. You leave any household you are in.
Anything shared with a CA	Access is pulled back the moment you confirm, before the countdown even starts.

What we must keep, and why

Indian tax law requires us to keep records of payments for 7 years. Those records stay, but your name, PAN and contact details are stripped out of them, so they are no longer about an identifiable person.

Payment records	Kept for 7 years, with your name removed. Required by Income-Tax record-keeping rules.
Support messages	Kept, with your name removed.
Counters like "how many reviews ran this month"	Kept. They hold no personal detail.
Your deletion certificate	Emailed to you once the wipe has run, so you have proof it happened.

Delete only some of your data

You do not have to close your account to remove things.

One document — open it in Inbox and tap Delete. The file and every number we read out of it go at once. There is no bin to restore it from.
What a CA can see — Settings → Sharing & CA links → revoke. Their access ends immediately.
Your household — Settings → Family → leave. Your papers stop being visible to the household owner.
Anything else — email support@chitragupt.ai and say what you want removed. We do it within 7 days and confirm by email.

Take a copy first

Settings → Privacy & data → Export my data emails you a ZIP of your documents, your profile and your ledger. Do this before you delete — we cannot get it back for you afterwards.

Can't sign in?

Email support@chitragupt.ai from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We check that it is you, then run the same wipe.
