  • Whole grains, ghee, dal, seasonal fruit beat any "superfood."
  • Warming foods pre-ovulation, cooling foods after (Ayurveda's temperature lens).
  • Cutting evening alcohol helps sperm quality within ~3 months.

Modern medicine's consensus is boring on purpose: a Mediterranean-style diet — whole grains, olive oil, nuts, fish, vegetables — modestly improves fertility outcomes. The Indian version doesn't require you to eat like an Italian.

"You're not trying to biohack this. You're trying to give your body what it recognises."

Ayurveda adds a temperature lens. Foods are grouped as ushna (warming) or sheeta (cooling). During the follicular phase, warming foods — ghee, dry ginger, sesame, whole grains — are traditionally preferred. Post-ovulation, cooling foods — rice, cucumber, coconut water — are favoured.

Practical for both of you. Priya and Rahul both benefit from adequate protein (dals, eggs, paneer), folate (leafy greens, sprouts), and zinc (pumpkin seeds, whole grains). Alcohol reduces sperm quality — worth cutting for Rahul.

Protein target~1 g / kg / day
Folate400 mcg / day (3 mo pre-conception)
Sperm-quality window~74 days (one cycle)
Alcohol impactReversible within 3 months
