Pricing and unlocks

Choice: Inbox (upload and view) is free forever. The engine (Tax, Expense, Portfolio) unlocks for one AY at a time, at the prices on tier-self, tier-ai-self and tier-pro-family. One payment per AY: no subscription, no auto-renew, so no renewal or pre-debit emails.

• Free stores up to 200 MB and parses nothing (view_only); paid tiers get 5 GB. On unlock every view_only doc is parsed (drainBackfill).
• Past AYs are free and read-only for every signed-in user. Only the current AY is paywalled.
• Refund: 14 days from payment verification (verified_at), auto-approved inside the window, admin review after. Nothing else closes the window.
• Pro Family AI quota: 15 questions a day, shared by the household. A family member's access is checked against the head's subscription, never their own.

Why: Indian filers think per return, not per month. Parsing is the main cost, so Free stores but does not parse.

Rejected: monthly subscriptions and auto-debit (wrong mental model) · upload-count limits (storage cap is simpler) · paywalling past AYs (friction, no revenue) · 24-hour refund window · closing the window on export.
