Decision

Join, decided by the owner on 2026-10-04. git mv .ai-assistant-rules.md AGENTS.md, so history follows. setup-ai-rules.sh now links the three tool files to AGENTS.md, and CLAUDE.md imports it.

Why

The repo kept its agent rules in .ai-assistant-rules.md, with .cursorrules, .vscode/copilot-context.md and .github/copilot-instructions.md as symlinks to it and no CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md. Every other product under ~/git/products uses AGENTS.md imported by CLAUDE.md. The migration note asked for a decision: join, or stay out.

Options weighed:

• Stay out — keep the file name; add a CLAUDE.md that points at it.
• Join — rename to AGENTS.md and repoint every symlink.

Impact

• One source, four readers: Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, VS Code.
• The file was split rather than moved. Product knowledge left it: the domain model to domain-model, the stack to stack, the working philosophy to mvp-first, the monorepo tree to CLAUDE.md. Three verbatim repeats of the field-resolver warning and a section of stale line-number references were dropped; the rule itself is kept once, in full.
• postinstall runs setup-ai-rules.sh, so a fresh yarn install recreates the links.
