Onboarding is three steps; the free month gets a small AI allowance

Context

Onboarding had four steps (Company, Plan, Setup, Capture). Plan had nothing to choose, since everyone starts on the free month, and a stack step was short. From images needs a vision model, and the free month had no AI, so that way in could not work for a free user.

Decision

• Three steps: Company → Your product → Capture, then Analysis.

  • Your product: name, the way in (URL, images, blank), the address, the sizes the site supports (Web, Tablet, Mobile; at least one), one design or one per size, and the stack, detected from the site and changeable.
  • Capture: who uses the product (Open, + Add role), then Capture. Images shows the upload instead. Blank skips it and opens the editor.

• No Plan step and no payment in onboarding. Everyone starts on the free month, no card. A card is asked for only when moving to Team.

• The free month gets 25 image conversions and 10 AI edits, hard-capped, no card. When either runs out, the paywall offers Team with the card form.

• A product starts at v0.0.1 when it is first captured, imported or created. Every merge bumps it: patch, minor or major (owner, 2026-10-22).

Consequences

• A free company costs about $0.50–2.50 more in AI at most (estimate; T011).
• Guards: one free month per email and per company, a rate limit on conversions, and images count toward the 25 pages per capture.
• entities/plans.md and concepts/onboarding-steps.md change with it.
