CONCEPT.RESERVED-MONEY-DIRECTION

Summary

Green means "you are owed" and rose means "you owe". Nothing else in Aakalan may wear either hue.

Why it matters

A balance list is twenty rows at a glance, and a colour that means "Meera" on one side of a row and "you owe" on the other means neither. This was broken in the worst possible places before it was written down: the avatar wheel contained #e5484d — the literal value of --neg — so "you" wore a rose disc six pixels from a rose figure, and --cat-home was #12a150, the literal --pos, putting the money green on a puck in a list whose right-hand column is money.

--settled is the third value and is deliberately NEUTRAL. An all-square account is the ABSENCE of a direction, not a positive one; a green flood reads as "you are owed" at a glance, which is the one thing it does not mean.

Implications

  • The avatar wheel (src/lib/avatar-color.ts, --avatar-1..8) excludes green and rose. avatar-color.test.ts asserts it rather than trusting it.
  • The category wheel excludes them too. home is brown: unoccupied, obviously not a direction, and the one colour that already means bricks.
  • Group cover gradients exclude them.
  • --success and --danger exist as separate tokens carrying the same values, so a green tick and a red delete stay possible without aliasing the money rule. A repalette of direction does not repaint every confirmation.
  • The balance hero is direction-coloured. An indigo hero made the biggest number on the screen the one amount whose colour said nothing.

Related

  • balances — where the rule is under the most pressure
  • tokens — the palette that encodes it
  • person — a card whose whole background carries the direction
