CONCEPT.BILLING-TRANSPARENCY

Summary

Price, renewal date and cancellation are visible without tapping anything, on every screen that can take money.

Why it matters

Apple pulled Cal AI from the App Store in April 2026 for deceptive billing: hidden price, card up front, a three-day trial that converted quietly. This product's paywall is the deliberate opposite, and that is a positioning claim worth making in the store listing as well as in the app.

Implications

  • The price is visible without tapping. No card for the free tier.
  • The renewal date and amount are stated in plain words, on the paywall and again on the subscription card in Settings.
  • "Not now" is a real button — same size, not grey-on-grey.
  • Cancel is a plain visible row in Settings, never buried behind support.
  • Terms and Privacy are present and functional at the point of purchase, inside the binary — App Store Review Guideline 3.1.2. That applies to the in-app upgrade frame as much as to the onboarding one; both are points of purchase.
  • Restore Purchases lives in Settings permanently, not only on the could-not-verify screen.
