CONCEPT.AUDIENCE-SALARIED-FILERAudience — the Indian salaried filer
Summary
The product is calibrated for individual filers in India filing ITR-1, ITR-2, ITR-3, or ITR-4, and households of up to 6 PANs filing alongside them — Form 16 is the minimal viable input, and PGBP-bearing returns are supported via presumptive (§44AD/ADA/AE) and books-of-accounts inputs.
Why it matters
Picking an audience this narrow is the design discipline that lets every other decision land. The voice (voice) is calibrated to an individual filer's vocabulary — not a company treasurer's or a trustee's. The Quick Check is sized for the individual-filer surface area (salary + HP + CG + PGBP). The four-state hero assumes a deterministic ITR pick across the ITR-1..4 range. Being explicit about "individual filer who has never spoken to a CA" also enforces the no-jargon copy rule — every string has to clear that bar.
Implications
- Today: ITR-1 (salaried · single house property), ITR-2 (capital gains · multiple HPs · RSU/ESOP · foreign assets / Schedule FA), ITR-3 (business or profession with books, or partner-in-firm), ITR-4 (presumptive §44AD / §44ADA / §44AE). Form 16 is the minimal viable input for salaried users; PGBP inputs come from bank statements, professional receipts, and books uploads. See pgbp-income for the classification matrix.
- Households: up to 6 PANs in one Pro Family bundle.
- HUFs (ITR-5), firms / LLPs (ITR-5), companies (ITR-6), trusts (ITR-7) are different filers — likely a sibling product line, not a tab in the household app. Explicitly out of scope.
- NRI flows (RNOR / NR, Schedule FA / TR / FSI) are explicitly out of V1. Indian residents receiving foreign-source income are in scope.
- Every new filer kind adds new Quick Check heads under an explicit scope-gate — never as silent additions to the salaried 15.
