Inbox + Tax hubs aligned with expense/portfolio polish · 4 tax-review variants collapsed

Decision

Align Inbox + Tax hubs to the expense/portfolio polish pattern (readiness ring, blurred KPI preview, tier picker), and collapse 4 tax-review state files into a single data-driven tax-review.html.

Why

Inbox hub gave no answer to "what should I do next?" and Tax-locked lacked the blurred-preview-of-what-unlocks pattern that expense/portfolio recently got. Tax-review also had 4 sibling files (refund / owe / clear / alerts) that differed only in the tax-position card colour/copy and one additional Watchlist section — exactly the same shape of variant fragmentation that expense's -healthy/-over/-creep/-anomaly pages had (see 2026-06-11).

Impact

• Inbox web hub (inbox.html): added Tax-readiness ring + 3-action checklist at top; AY selector; doc list reordered into Needs-you / Confirmed groups; right rail switched from single CTA → tier picker (Self ₹249 / AI Self ₹499 / Pro Family ₹799) + suggested-next-uploads.
• Inbox mobile hub: compact readiness card with 3-chip action list inline.
• Tax-locked web: blurred KPI preview (Tax position / Regime / Claimed) + waterfall preview now sit below the centered unlock card. Right rail = "Pick your tier" picker + "Then pick your filing path" (CA handoff / BYO CA / Hire). Same unlock language matches expense/portfolio.
• Tax-locked mobile: added the tier picker, demoted "hire a CA" to secondary.
• Tax-review consolidation: tax-review-clear.html, tax-review-owe.html, tax-review-alerts.html deleted (web + mobile · 6 files). Canonical tax-review.html now demonstrates the Refund-with-Watchlist state; the position-card colour/copy is documented as data-driven in an HTML comment, mirroring the expense-unlocked variants comment. The 3-card alerts pattern (TDS mismatch / Capital gains / NPS) folded into a single Watchlist section that's shown when at least one alert is open.
• Super-headers (web + mobile + indexes) and data-chrome-routes strings updated to drop the 3 deleted chips. Resolve → / Resume Tax Review → links from dashboard + notifications redirected to tax-review.html. tax-past-ay.html notice link also rewired.
• .context/wiki/surfaces/* rows for Inbox folders, Tax locked, Tax review updated; the 3 deleted variant rows collapsed into one canonical Tax-review row.
• Inbox-document state pages (inbox-document-view-only.html, inbox-document-owner-mismatch.html, inbox-document-transfer-pending.html) were NOT collapsed — they represent distinct user flows (free-tier upgrade banner / PAN-mismatch resolution / Pro-Family transfer-queue waiting state) rather than data variants of the same screen. Super-header chips for them now sit behind a visual divider to reduce hub clutter.
• Refined by 2026-06-12-r2-second-pass-simplification (second pass strips much of what was added here).
• Affects pillar-tax, pillar-inbox, pillar-expense, pillar-portfolio, tier-self, tier-ai-self, tier-pro-family, and copy-strings.
