DECISION.2026-07-22.UNIVERSAL-FIVE-RUPEES-BOTH-SIDESDecision
Both buyer and seller pay a flat ₹5 per meaningful action. Seller: ₹5 to publish a listing (30-day live), ₹5 to renew. Buyer: ₹5 to unlock owner contact. No daily wallet drain. No subscription tiers. Auto-takedown fires at day 30, not at wallet-empty.
Why
Founder chose ₹5 both sides "based on use case". Market research (2026-07-22) confirmed the range: NoBroker charges buyers ₹1,999–₹9,999/month and owners ₹7,499–₹20,999/quarter; 99acres / MagicBricks charge owners ₹6k–₹25k/year. All of those are outside the "friction filter" zone. ₹5 is deliberately below any threshold at which we'd be competing on revenue — it's a scammer filter that a genuine user won't notice.
Impact
- Supersedes the 2026-06-07 "₹2/day + ₹5/contact" decision.
- Auto-takedown mechanic changes shape: was "wallet < ₹2 at midnight → take down"; now "30 days since publish → take down; seller re-publishes for ₹5". Preserves the "prove property still available" trust signal without the daily-drain complexity.
- Wallet UI shows a balance, not a runway-in-days.
- Revenue per active listing drops sharply (₹60/month → ₹5–10/month); Phase 0 remains an explicit non-revenue experiment.
Status
Active. Supersedes: 2026-06-07 Wallet pricing decision.
