Purpose

What Imposter is for, who it is for, and what it is not. From the repo's own pages.

What it is

A party game on one phone, or in an online room. Everyone gets the word except one player, the imposter, and the table finds the liar. Every word comes with a hint written by a person (word-packs). It answers PROB-0001: the big games in this category are disliked for how they charge, not how they play.

Who it is for

Groups of 3 to 20 people in one room, with one phone (marketing context).

What it is not

• Not ad-funded: no ad SDK and no analytics (marketing context).
• Not a weekly plan: Pro is one payment. Online, for the person who makes rooms, is monthly or yearly (plans).
• Not a paywall to join: joining a room is never sold (plans).
• Not the 1.x app: 2.0 was rebuilt, and 1.x code was deleted (v2-rebuild).

Status

App Store: 2.3.1 is ready for distribution (ASC API, 2026-11-01). Google Play: the production track has never had a release; 2.3.1 is on the alpha track (release.yml). Words used here: glossary.
