Why it is drawn this way

Twelve files under designs/brand/pieces/. One per side and piece. Every screen references them; none is pasted inline.

Each side reads on both squares and in both themes. White is ivory with a dark outline. Black is near-black with a pale outline. The artwork does not change with the theme.

The square states are shown here once. Last move, selected, check, move and capture.
