CONCEPT.LOCAL-PHOTOSSummary
Meal photos are written to the app's own document directory and no screen has ever uploaded one; the only way a photo leaves the phone is the user picking a destination in the OS share sheet.
Why it matters
"Where do my food photos go" is a reasonable question and not one to leave the user to assume either way. The gallery is a record the user owns, and the post composer has to make it obvious that AskCal has no account anywhere and cannot post on anyone's behalf.
Implications
lib/photos.tswrites into the app's document directory. Nothing uploads.- The post preview is what gets handed to the share sheet — the same crop, the same overlay. A preview that lies about the crop is worse than none.
- Every line on the post card is removable except the AskCal mark, which was never the user's line to remove and is visible in the preview before anything is sent.
- Turning "Keep meal photos" off stops new photos; it deletes nothing already saved, and the screen says so. Saying it is what stops the setting being a dark pattern.
