SURFACE.MOBILE.GAME.TALK

Summary

Going round, one word each, on a clock that decides nothing.

Why it is drawn this way

Four screens became one. An earlier version ran clue-round → discussion → vote → vote-result, and the clue round needed one tap per player to advance. Five players meant five taps to reach a screen that already carried a "Skip to discussion" button — the design admitting its own friction.

Nobody in this category ships a vote screen. Imposter Who? (5M+ installs) writes its own rule as "keep giving words and talking until someone thinks they've figured it out." imposter.app has one button called Reveal Imposter. The accusation happens at the table, out loud, which is the fun part — a tally UI moves it onto a phone that five people are not looking at.

No round number. The chip used to read "Round 2". It implied a match, a best-of, something being counted toward — and this app decides nothing and scores nothing. It was not even accurate: the counter is ephemeral, so closing the app mid-evening restarted it at 1 while the group was twelve rounds in. A number nobody can use, that is also wrong.

The starting player is randomised every round. Always starting with player one hands a permanent advantage to whoever speaks last, because they hear every clue before inventing one.

The order is shown, not enforced. An arrow row, no tap-through. The table can already see whose turn it is; the phone repeating it five times is not information.

The clock never decides anything. Time running out turns the ring white and stops — see last-ten. It does not force the reveal and it does not buzz anyone into a decision, and "Add 30 seconds" is always there.

A ring, not a bar. The talk phase is the loudest part of the game and nobody is watching the phone, so "time left" has to read from across a table. In the wireframe the ring is also the link to last-ten, because the clock running down is not something a reviewer can wait for.

Re-check is the one competitor gap kept. Straight out of Imposter Who?'s reviews: "a button that lets people who have forgotten what they are re-check it would be very helpful." It is the ? in the header — see recheck.
