CONCEPT.INDIAN-CONTEXT-TOGGLE

Indian context toggle

Summary

Every Knowledge Card has a toggle that swaps default modern-medical guidance for the applicable Indian context — garbhsanskar, Ayurveda-informed diet, joint-family scripts, regional practices. The card ID stays the same; the content swaps.

Why it matters

India has real cultural expectations around pregnancy and parenting that the global apps ignore. Not because they're wrong — because they're monolingual and mono-cultural.

But we also don't want to be only Ayurvedic — that's narrow, easily copied, and clashes with medical trust. The right answer is a toggle: modern medical is the default (safe, universal), the Indian context is one tap away (rich, culturally relevant).

We reject BabyChakra's approach of hundreds of shallow language variants. One canonical Card, two well-crafted views (Global + India), Hindi-translatable — that's the model.

Implications

  • Every Knowledge Card has two views — Global (default) and India Context.
  • Card ID stays stable — the toggle switches the body, not the card identity. This means tracking (read/not-read), bookmarks, and AI citations all still work.
  • India-context content follows regional overlay — if the user's Household region is set (Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, etc.), an additional regional-context section appears within the India view.
  • AI Q&A respects the toggle — if the user has the toggle on for reading Cards, chat responses cite the India view.
  • Doctor referral surfaces Indian clinicians by default (see gtm-india).
  • Voice tone stays voice regardless of toggle — warm, plainspoken. India context does NOT mean flowery Sanskrit-heavy language by default; that's an opt-in style setting.
  • What we do NOT do: we do not push garbhsanskar or Ayurveda as mandatory. Users can turn the toggle off entirely and never see it again.
